Little Hercules Second Appearance in Two Months, You Know You Want To Be Here at the Victoria Tavern
That’s right Little Hercules is coming back for two more nights at the Victoria Tavern. July 27 and 28th starting around 9:30 p.m.
Little Hercules was our FIBArk band this year. Come down to The Vic and check them out.
A glimpse into the future of funk juxtaposed with timeless spirit of music. You can here a little bit of their funk at www.littlehercules.net
Little Hercules are crusaders on the frontiers of rock. After spending time with New Orleans funk pioneers, the Meters, Papa Grows Funk, Wild Magnolias, Rebirth Brass Band, PBS, Zigaboo Modeliste, Boneramma with Fred Wesley, it seems inevitable that some “real deal” funk has rubbed off on Little Hercules.

Byron Shaw Projex July 6th and 7th
Feed Your Soul (EmbryonicRecords)
As the leader of The Jonez and Judge Roughneck, Byron Shaw has been a headliner on the Denver music scene for longer than some of its younger members have been alive — but that doesn’t mean he’s stopped evolving as an artist.
No punk-funk or third-generation ska retreads here. Instead, instrumentalists like keyboard specialist Chad Aman, clavinetist Geoff Cleveland and trombonist Gary Mallory create gently jazzy, casually engaging rhythms and melodies.
Shaw joins in with bongos and laid-back singing that entwines with the sinuous warbling of Melinda Dickson and Elizabeth Rose, who was once with (another flashback) Sympathy F. As a result, tracks such as “Happy Feelings” and “I Can Relate” exude an evocative, end-of-the-evening vibe that’s mellow without seeming tired.
Shaw’s brand-new groove may catch longtime fans off guard, but as Feed Your Soul demonstrates, change is good.
